Members of Southern Vermont's vibrant international community will speak briefly about their personal journeys to the United States and read a poem in their native tongue, along with a translation in English. Music from each country—some traditional melodies, some pieces by classical composers—will be paired with each poem and performed by Taconic Chamber Players (Joana Genova and Heather Braun, violins; Ariel Rudiakov, viola and Nathaniel Parke, cello).
Featuring:
Elizabeth von Riesenfelder (Hungary); Yiannis John Maltezos (Greece); Andrea Thulin (Chile); Anne D’Olivo (England) and Lei Annabelle Liu (China)
Music includes a traditional Chilean cueca, Mikis Theodorakis; Zorba's Dance, Gustav Holst: Jupiter from "The Planets", Zoltán Kodály: Intermezzo from “Háry János” and Wu Man: Glimpses of Muqam Chebiyat.
Free admission.
